Philmont 2017

Posted on Feb 9 2016 - 8:53am
Hey Scouts!!
We have an opportunity to go back to Philmont Scout Ranch in the summer of 2017 - this is 12 days of hiking and backpacking in the mountains of northern New Mexico.  This is the quintessential scouting experience and requires scouts and adults to be in peak physical condition.  We are going with a Circle10 Contingent, so the group will bus overnight from Circle10 HQ on Harry Hines.

Northern Tier - 2017

Posted on Feb 9 2016 - 8:52am
HOL-RY!!! This is the traditional greeting for one Northern Tier crew meeting another on the water or trails.  Think of it like the Minnesota version of "Howdy!"
For Summer 2017, we have an opportunity to send 8 people (scouts + adults) to the Boy's Scout's High Adventure on the lakes of northern Minnesota and Ontario, Canada!!  Northern Tier is the BSA's oldest national High Adventure program, outfitting scouting groups for canoe trips since the summer of 1923.  The flagship base of Northern Tier, the Charles L Sommers Canoe Base has hosted Boy Scout Canoe Expeditions on the shores of Moose Lake since 1941. Located twenty miles outside of the town of Ely, MN, the Sommers Base outfits over 4,000 scouts each year on wilderness canoe trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) of Minnesota and the Quetico Provincial Park of Ontario.  Northern Tier crews paddle in almost 6 million acres of canoe-access only wilderness. Trips out of the Sommers base are limited to the size of 8 participants plus an Interpreter (guide).  The last time Troop 842 sent crews to Northern Tier was summer, 2013.

Scouting For Food

Posted on Jan 31 2016 - 11:26pm

Scouting for Food Saturday, February 13th.  We need scouts to pick up canned food donations, as well as adults to drive.  The more people helping, the easier it will be!

We need to know how many people are coming, so please sign up online

We will meet at the troop trailers, in the FUMC parking lot, on Saturday 2/13/16 at 9am

Wear your Class A uniform, as you are representing Boy Scouting.  Please wear warm clothes underneath, as it may be cold, and a jacket over the scout shirt makes it hard to tell you’re a scout.
